    Bio: I am a senior in the natural resource conservation major with a minor in fisheries and aquatic sciences. My interests include marine and freshwater ecology, conservation, and aquaculture. My career goal is to obtain a position within a aquatic conservation organization, whether it be marine or fresh water

  • 2014: Jon Kistemaker

    Bio: I am finishing up my biology degree with a minor in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. I was born and raised in St. Pete Florida and have grown up around the water my whole life. I have a passion for action board sports such as kiteboarding, wakeboard, snowboarding and surfing. I am also an avid diver and spearfisherman. This summer I worked in Long Key and my focus was on chemo taxis in post larval spiny lobsters.

    Bio: I was born and raised in the Florida Keys and am a 4th year Environmental Science major at UF. I have an affinity for the ocean and hope to pursue a career in marine ecology. I'm currently working with the vertical transmission of PaV1 virus on Florida Spiny Lobster in the Florida Keys.

After growing up in south Florida I have a strong affinity for the water and would like to work to protect it in the future.

    Bio: I graduated from the University of Florida in May 2012 with a B.S. in Biology. I will be taking a gap year, in which my goals are to identify a specific research focus for my graduate studies, get more practical experience, and practice my Spanish language skills, before entering a PhD program in marine biology.

  • 2009-2010: Alexandra Burne

    Bio: I am currently working as a lab technician for Dr. Mary Brown (UF School of Veterinary Medicine) doing diagnostic testing on different animals, mostly desert and gopher tortoises, and bison. We receive samples from USGS and vets around the world to test for mycoplasmas using PCR and ELISA assays. I am also working toward a certificate in public health, with a veterinary specialization, and am applying to the UF masters program in Global and Environmental Health. I would like to study zoonotics and hope to identify which diseases are potential zoonotics long before they become a threat to the human population.

    Bio: I am currently in my 1st year of vet school and will graduate in 2015 with a DVM and a certificate of food animal medicine.
  • 2010: Eleanor Yudelman

    Bio: I am currently pursuing a Masters In Geological Oceanography at Texas A&M University, my focus is on reconstructing past sea surface temperatures via geochemical analysis of coral cores from the Flower Gardens in the Gulf of Mexico. I am also working on a project to do Seafloor imaging of Alacran Reef in order to characterize physiographic and geological features of the reef and associated ecological habitats. Along with all of that, I am also working as an instructor for the scientific Diving class here at TAMU -- aka keeping very busy!
